I’m Shawn Encarnacion, a cartoon illustrator and character designer with 20 years of experience creating original, character-driven work for publishing, branding, print, and product-based projects. Since 2005, I’ve helped bring ideas to life for clients worldwide, ranging from small businesses and growing brands to major organizations like the Las Vegas Raiders, Ronald McDonald House, Ford Motor Company, and Stanford University.

Character design has always been at the center of my work. Whether I’m developing a cast for a story, creating a mascot for a brand, or building artwork for print and merchandise, I’m drawn to characters that are expressive, memorable, and full of personality. I enjoy the challenge of making them not only visually appealing, but effective for the project they’re meant to serve.

I’ve loved cartoons since childhood and grew up on a steady diet of 80s animation, classic Disney, Warner Bros., and Hanna-Barbera. That early obsession became a lifelong craft, and today I bring the same enthusiasm to professional projects that I once brought to sketching characters for fun. When I’m not drawing for clients, I’m usually creating my own characters and stories, or spending time with my wife, youngest daughter, and our dog, often watching movies or traveling together when we can.
